Where do I job advance in MapleStory Classic World?
Victoria Island: Perion Warrior, Ellinia Magician, Henesys Bowman, Kerning Thief. Confirm the NPC in-game.
This MapleStory Classic World beginner guide is the first session after install: create a Beginner, clear Maple Island, sail to Lith Harbor, then take a first job — Warrior, Magician, Bowman, or Thief. NEXON Korea Corporation / Nexon America Inc.. Magician job level is 8 vs 10 in conflicting notes — treat as Unverified. Verified October 7, 2026.

Every MapleStory Classic World character starts as a Beginner. Maple Island is the 1–10 tutorial continent: Amherst, Southperry, the hunting grounds, and the boat. Learn attack, jump, loot, equip, and potions here. A MapleStory Classic World beginner guide that skips the island still has to name those keys because the live client will quiz you on snails and the Southperry boat anyway.
Hunt snails and mushrooms until first-job requirements are close, then decide whether you care about island-only quests. Some recaps mention a chair or collection chain that you cannot redo after the boat — treat NPC names as Unverified until they match your HUD. Completionists stay; crowded maps are a Founder’s-day tax.

Do not dump Ability Points at random. Warrior wants STR, Magician INT, Bowman DEX, Thief LUK, with enough secondary stats to wear the next weapon. A reset costs real Mesos later. If you already know the line, put island AP on the main stat and keep DEX/STR only for gear floors.
Skill Points barely exist until first job. Spending them on Beginner fluff is how people feel “behind” at Lith Harbor. The island is movement practice, not a build.
Founder’s Package items auto-mail. You open them after Maple Island. If the box looks empty on the island, you are not bugged. Claim rules: Founder’s Pack.
Southperry is the port. Take the ship to Lith Harbor on Victoria Island. That move ends the tutorial continent. A MapleStory Classic World beginner guide that says “just teleport” is mixing modern MapleStory cash shop habits — walk, climb ropes, take the boat.
Lith Harbor has shops, the boat you just used, and routes to the other Victoria towns. It does not have all four job instructors. Buy potions, check the mailbox if you had a package, then pick a road: Perion (west/north rock), Ellinia (east forest), Henesys (south field), Kerning (subway west).
Sleepywood is a Victoria town too, but it is not a first-job town. Save it for later grinding and Jr. Balrog on the bosses list once you have a job.
Plan island chairs and story NPCs before you click the sailor. After Lith Harbor, Maple Island is done for that character. That is the one irreversible beginner click.
Block about 40 minutes once the client is patched. Minutes 0–5: confirm Classic World is on and the Beginner exists (how to play). Minutes 5–20: Amherst NPCs, one weapon, potion hotkey, a stack of white potions if you can afford them. Minutes 20–30: hunting grounds until the job level gate looks close. Minutes 30–35: Southperry boat. Minutes 35–40: Lith Harbor mailbox, then the walk to Perion, Ellinia, Henesys, or Kerning. If you only have ten minutes, do not take the boat — park on the island with potions bought so the next login is hunt, not shop.
Crowded Founder’s hours stretch that clock. Channel change on the island if snails are gone. Do not sit AFK in Southperry hoping the sailor skips the crowd; the boat still has to load Lith Harbor. This MapleStory Classic World beginner guide is done when the job instructor accepts you, not when you hit the community’s Unverified 100 cap.
Job advance is an NPC conversation in the matching Victoria town. Confirm the instructor name in-game; wiki NPC strings go stale across tests.

| First job | Town | Main stat | Weapons (launch notes) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Warrior | Perion | STR | Swords, axes, spears, polearms |
| Magician | Ellinia | INT | Wands / staffs — job level 8 vs 10 Unverified |
| Bowman | Henesys | DEX | Bow or crossbow; arrows are consumables |
| Thief | Kerning City | LUK | Claw + stars (Assassin) or dagger (Bandit) |
Most first jobs want the town visit plus a level gate around the end of Maple Island. Magician is the messy one: some dumps say level 8, others level 10. This MapleStory Classic World beginner guide will not pick a number. Talk to the Ellinia instructor; if the quest is gray, you are early.
Pirate is not a launch job in most sources. If you do not see a Nautilus instructor, you are not missing a hidden menu. 3rd job is the same story: FAQ-only until Nexon lists it live on classes.
Fighter / Page / Spearman, FP / IL / Cleric, Hunter / Crossbowman, Assassin / Bandit — those are 2nd jobs after you train on Victoria. Do not stall in Lith Harbor waiting for a 2nd-job NPC. First job first. Assassin long-tail sits on assassin.
Pick the play you will still like at level 30. Community DPM sheets are not a first job decision. Warriors are tanky melee. Magicians spend MP and want INT gear. Bowmen sit at range and buy arrows. Thieves move fast; Assassins burn stars, Bandits stay melee.
Assassin is popular and expensive in a fresh meso market because stars are a tax. If you want that line anyway, read assassin after Kerning. If you want cheap mobbing later, Magician and Warrior are the usual “I have no friends funding me” picks. Rankings: tier list — community only.
Classic World lets you make more Beginners. The MapleStory Classic World beginner guide default is still one main through first job, not six half-island mules. Names are separate from modern MapleStory, so a cute IGN on a throwaway Beginner is a name you lost.
After first job, Henesys Hunting Ground 1 (one portal left of Henesys) is the crowded default: snails and shrooms on the bottom for people still near 10, then slimes, orange mushrooms, stumps, green mushrooms as you climb. Channel hop if a platform has more than a couple of people. Kerning Construction Site is the west-side alternative. That split is enough for night one; map-by-map EXP after 15 belongs on leveling, not this beginner pass.
Maps, EXP, and potion burn after that belong on the leveling guide. This MapleStory Classic World beginner guide stops when you have a job name that is not Beginner.
Party EXP and spawn notes are why people group early. Free Market is the Victoria trade floor — ignore RMT sites. Scrolls (100/60/30/10) wait until you have a piece worth blowing up; day-one 10% weapon scrolls on a level 10 sword is how Mesos vanish. Guilds and fame exist; they are not a first-hour gate.
Ossyria. Orbis. El Nath. Pirate. 3rd job. Those strings in community databases are Test Only / TBA. If a friend links an Orbis guide, it is not this launch.
Creating the character with Classic World still off. Spending island AP on the wrong main stat. Sailing before the Magician instructor will talk to you. Waiting on Maple Island for Founder’s boxes. Buying Pirate “because the wiki thumbnail had a gun.” Mixing MapleStory Worlds mobile tutorials into this client.

Yes in classic Maple, but this beginner guide treats first job as the default first-week path.
No in most launch sources. Four jobs only: Warrior, Magician, Bowman, Thief.
Sources conflict at 8 vs 10. Unverified — check Ellinia.
